High input even with nothing plugged in sounds like a feedback loop. I tried multiple mono and stereo channels simultaneously and tried many combinations of the routing buttons pressed/depressed.
I tried recording on the stereo inputs and didn't have any problems. This signal will be delayed based upon your latency settings. You have to turn on "input monitoring" in order for to hear what's actually being recorded in Sonar. If you only have the 2 tk button pressed then you should only hear what's coming into the mixer from the 2-track RCA input and/or what's being routed to the Multimix output in Sonar. I think that the output signal is not being routed back to the mixer properly from Sonar.Īnyone have any experience with this problem? if i only have the 2tk button pressed, i cannot hear the noise from the guitar i can only hear the guitar if i press the mix button.
what i can hear in the headphones is determined by which of the push-buttons i have depressed on the mixer (2 tk, mix, alt 3/4). the volume for the headphones is controlled with the volume nob on the mixer. i have a quarter inch cable from a guitar plugged into #1 input on the mixer. So that i am clear: i have my headphones plugged into the mixer. The 'output' that i select for a track is not being sent to my mixer. In the mean time, I'm working on putting together some screen caps of my setup, and a little mp3 of what it sounds like if i try to record on the stereo channels. Of course, to anyone who is struggling with their own multimix firewire install, i'd be happy to help with any of the little problems that i've worked through so far. just let me know what you need to help solve this issue. I'd be happy to assemble some screen caps or record the noises i'm talking about so you could have a listen. If any of you can help me with this, i'd be very grateful. i've read through all the pages of forums, but i don't think i've seen the answer to this problem (maybe i've missed it?). I feel like i'm really close to finally having this mixer working.
i've done all the driver and firmware updates. This only happens on the stereo tracks (9-16). if i try to record, the result is a cyclical loud static hiss noise. note that it doesn't matter what the position of the slider is, and it doesn't matter if there is a cable plugged into the mixer stereo track or not. it is as if it is hearing a signal that is peaking. When i select any of the stereo tracks to record on,and arm it, the meter display instantly spikes up and stays at a high level. I am also able to record multiple tracks at the same time, as long as they are all on tracks 1-8. When i arm the track and start recording, it works and i end up with a recorded wave file (just like i'm supposed to).
I can see the db meter displaying the output signal. Sonar neames this input as ASIO Input 1 Right. For example, i feed a signal into the 1/4" input on track 2 of the mixer. In sonar, i have learned that ASIO is the only format that lets me play/record projects properly.ĭuring recording, I select the input for the track i want to record on.
Notes: in the multimix control panel, i can select "wdm enable", and this will allow me to hear any files that i play through the windows media player, but if i do not select this option, only my sonar files come through the multimix output. Good news: i now play all my old songs with the multimix acting as my sound card. Now, I use the 2TK output (or headphones) to listen to the output. Therefore, i decided to disable the soundblaster card in windows. When the multimix was not plugged in, I was able to play old projects with good quality in both the CWHS 2004 and SHS 4. I have been using these 5.1 speakers that plugged in directly to the sound card, and believe it or not, the sound has been plently good for the small studio i have.
I have the SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum Pro sound card installed. lot's of distortion, blips, wrong speeds, etc.
I have literally spent the last five days after work trying to get this thing working.Īt first, I couldn't even get the software to play my old projects. I was using Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 (for a couple of years).Īfter the new mixer didn't work with CHS 2004, I went out and purchased the Sonar Home Studio 4 software. I have recently purchased an Alesis Multimix 16. Alesis Multimix 16 Firewire and Sonar Home Studio 4
